love is true?

I always believe that if you really love someone, you should be true to that person. You should not tell that person a lie, not even a white lie. A lie is still a lie.
Recently I have been lied by someone I love. He said it was a white lie as he didnt want to see me being sad. I felt even worse when I knew about it. My heart seems to be breaking into pieces.
