Steamboat at Joo Chiat
Not knowing what to eat for dinner, we decided to try the new steamboat restaurant 'Xian Pin Guo' located at 304 Joo Chiat Road.. This is their website http://wwww.xianpinguo.com/
1) Their menu where we get to choose and tick which food we want.. According to them, you could order as many times as you want.. There is no limit, including cooked food..
2) Our soup base - Tom Yam and chicken soup and the olden type of steamboat. As we sat in the middle row where there is no power source hence we have to use this..
I still couldnt get the reason of the boss refusing to allow us to sit at the corner. He said tat it was reserved but after 10 mins, 2 ladies came to the shop, he allowed them to sit at tat exact table and they have made no RESERVATION.. Biased?
3) The cute him drinking water while waiting for the food to come.. :)
4) The corner where they placed the sauces, rice - plain rice or garlic fried rice and ice-creams.. Their ice-creams are packed in plastic bags and not the usual tubs..
5) Our food..
6) We finally ordered their popular dish ' House Special Prawn' but the prawns were not fully cooked when they served us. When I was peeling them, I felt tat something was wrong as the prawns were a bit too soft but I couldnt put my finger on it. After I passed to him, he cut them into halves and said tat the prawns were not fully cooked. They offered to re-cook but I was a bit disappointed.. First time trying but the prawns are not fully cooked.. sighs..
7) The samosa.. Their cooked food are relatively nice but 1 disappointment could spoil everything..
8) Our part 2 of ordering food.. Not forgetting my fav - luncheon meat..
Not much decoration were done to this place so if you pass by, you might not know tat they are serving steamboat. The people there are quite friendly with the waitress smiling here and there, hence it might make you feel welcome. Not a bad experience if they have not served me not fully cooked prawns.
