Dinner at Hung Kang Teochew Restaurant :)

This is my third time writing this entry..

Met him at The Central.. We chanced upon Hung Kang Teochew Restaurant while walking around Clarke Quay and waiting for our turn at the Thai Restaurant.. I was glad tat I have chosen this place as we did not need to smell bad after eating as compared to eating bbq food at the Thai Restaurant..

We have chosen the $39.90++ per pax set meal and we were given a choice of 1 soup and 2 other dishes.

1) Both of us have chosen the shark fin soup with conopy.. I was even asking him if the brown item was shark fin as they have given us 4 pieces each.. The portion was considered generous..

2) My fav steamed pomfret.. The fish was quite fresh, big and tasty and I have a great time eating it..

3) Braised goose meat.. I was asking him if it is really goose meat as it taste like duck meat.. Being a connoisseur in food, he said tat it was really goose meat as the texture is different.. wow..

4) Ordered an extra cai po fried with egg.. Not a bad choice..

5) Ordered my fav yam paste with ginko nuts as dessert.. The yam paste was yummy, though it is slightly sweet.. To him, the texture wasnt smooth enough..

A menu like this cost us $104 per 2 after GST and service charge..

To me, the price was ok as the food was yummy and the service was relatively ok.

I would recommend this restaurant to my friends as the service attitude was relatively good though we have chosen the set menu.. They even asked if we were full from the menu when we were leaving..

*Written based on my own eating experience.. May vary for diff ppl..

Porridge Party on 27 Jun '13

There is a saying 'when the cat is out, the mice come out and play..' As for us, we did a 'porridge party'..

Though we have already decided tat each of us will contribute an item and will only have 6 - 7 dishes, we ended up having 14 dishes for 6 pax..

D went to the market and bought quite a few items for us like squids, tofu, vegetables and salted eggs.

1) We placed the squids in the microwave to heat it up a bit..

2) The cold tofu with heated minced meat..

3) Our usual dish but it is cheese luncheon meat this round..

4) Contibuted by J's mum.. She cooked this early in the morning.. Fried egg with cai po..

5) Also contributed by J's mum.. Meat cooked with caixin..

6) Youtiao bought by YC..

7) Salted eggs.. Pardon the ugliness of the outlook of the egg..

8) Vegetarian Gluten meat with peanuts..

9) Anchovies heated up in the microwave..

 10) Cai po..

11) Contributed by D's mum.. Wu xiang..

12) Wanted to eat this but we were too full from other dishes.. Hence, it still remain in this packaging.. Ba hu..

13) Contributed by D.. Fermented tofu..

14) Our overall dishes with the bowls of porridge..

15) We have the cooked vegetables but I was too busy eating till I have forgotten to take pic of it.. We managed to cook it after putting it into the rice cooker to cook.. We placed it in the microwave initially but it was not cooked instead..

The porridge was cooked by mummy YC and we were glad tat the portion of the porridge was just enough for everyone.. We were too stuffed by the last round of porridge with sweet potato.

We were glad tat we did not open too many cans of canned food but we have quite a few of home-made dishes instead..

I am still quite full from the lunch plus the earlier on breakfast..

Overall, it was a happy lunch.. :)

42) Their poster of food..
43) Me with Jac.. There are quite a few more pics of the friends who went but I didnt upload here.. In case they happen to browse into this blog.. haha

The meal of 9 dishes cost us approx. RM$1,600 for 9 pax which was quite exp.. Anyway if u eat these dishes in SG, I would suppose it would cost more.. It was raining when we were buying the chinese biscuits..

Though it was super hot at the start but it was quite cooling on our way home.. A gd way to end the day.. :)
